May 21st 2022: The Huntington Beach Police Department has announced they are adding more officers on patrol on the weekends. The additional officers will patrol Friday through Sunday from 6 pm to 2 am each night and be on the look out for drivers under the influence. The additional officers have been funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
Opinion: I’m not a fan of DUI checkpoints where police officers stop everyone to see if you are under the influence while driving. Stopping mainly innocent drivers in hopes of catching possible drunk drivers doesn’t seem right to me; But I fully support the extra officers looking to take drunk drivers off the road before they hurt themselves or others.
