January 16th 2023: Construction work is currently going on at the Newport Beach Lifeguard Headquarters at the foot of the pier. The project is to replace the stairs and ramp to the Lifeguard Headquarters which have deteriorated from exposure to the elements.
If you are heading to the pier it will remain open the whole time during construction but protective fencing has been put up to protect visitors. The construction is expected to be done by mid April and signs have been placed if you need lifeguard assistance call (949) 644-3047.
